Art of Meditation Mandalas share the principles of inter-connectedness and union. They provide us with a continuous reminder of our own relationship to the whole Universe.

What is a mandala?

In Sanskrit the word mandala means 'circle'.

In nature, we find patterns, designs and structures from the micro to the macro! Throughout the entire greater cosmos we see geometry happening. There is a principle of oneness underlying all geometry that permeates the architecture of all form. This principle of inter-connectedness and union provides us with a continuous reminder of our relationship to the whole.

Mandalas are used for meditation purposes allowing the individual meditating to become one with the universe. This is what many of the Masters have strived for when creating their mandalas. Throughout time various spiritual traditions, mandalas have been used for expressing creativity,  focusing attention and as an aid to meditation.

The symbolism behind the creation of a mandala can have significant meaning for many of us whether you are Jewish, Buddhist, Christian, Pagan or of any other religious orientation. I have seen mandalas appear in every culture. They speak to all of us because they have a Universal Language.

There are many uses for a mandala.  The design of the mandala is very visually appealing so it actually absorbs the mind in such a way that irritating thoughts are unable to get through and a spiritual essence begins to surround you, which in turn allows you a higher consciousness or awareness, it’s very hypnotic.  This allows the busy mind to take a break.

Learn step by step

Over the course of this weekend you will be guided, step by step, how to select color palettes, how to design patterns, how to get your mandala line work measured and how to add the details to your mandala.

Frankey will guide you to feel confident in your creation and will coach you through your personal and spiritual journey.

At the end of this retreat you will have completed your own 12 x 12 inch mandala on wooden box panel using acrylic paint, dotting tools and metallic leafing pens.
